Macdona, Texas. Macdona is eighteen miles from downtown San Antonio in Bexar County. It was named for George Macdona, an Englishman, who owned the town site.
A post office opened there in 1886, and by 1945 it consisted of the post office, a grammar school, a grocery store, a garage, a filling station, a fruit stand, a blacksmith shop, a Catholic church, and a population of 100.
In later days the growth of nearby San Antonio has helped Macdona to prosper, and today the city has reported a population of close to 4,000.
The school children are bussed to nearby San Antonio to receive a top notch education. In later years when college becomes an issue there are also many high quality universities and colleges in a close distance of Macdona.
